Городское сельское хозяйство в Арктике: российский и зарубежный опыт

The paper represents results of comparative survey of development of urban agriculture in the Arctic regions of Russia, foreign Europe and North America. Regional analysis enabled reveal common and specific problems of expansion of urban agriculture in the Arctic. Overlapping of the maps of Arctic urbanization and northern limits of open air cropping enabled to determine the most promising areas for urban agriculture northbound. The authors analyze success stories in northern regions worldwide and intend to answer the question whether urban agriculture is a viable or futuristic way to feed population of Arctic cities, providing different arguments related to technological progress, economic efficiency, food security, environmental safety.
