Proceedings of conference contain short articles by the participants of the 6th International Scientific
Conference "Ecology of Ancient and Traditional Societies", held in Tyumen on November 2–6, 2020. The
conference focuses on the results of interdisciplinary research revealing the relationships between people, ancient
or traditional communities and the environment in a wide spatial-chronological context. The materials
highlight new results of studies of environmental changes in connection with historical processes at both local
and regional levels, discuss variations in adaptation strategies, the cultural component of anthropogenic
impact on the environment, historical human ecology, the practice of transforming landscapes in different
chronological scales. The papers cover both traces of human history hidden in a natural environment, as well
as natural events reflected in anthropological, archaeological, ethnological and historical materials.
