Investigation of the Possibility of Using a Personal Computer for Unauthorized Access to Acoustic Speech Information
The article is devoted to the study of the possibility of interception by a potential attacker of acoustic speech information using microphones, built-in or connected to a PC, operating systems running Windows 7, Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04, as well as the transfer of this information on the local area network. The authors studied peculiarities of the functioning of recording devices, and technologies of creation of audible signals used in a personal computer and pathways in the operating environment. The article also describes the steps that can capture audio from a microphone and transmit audio information over a local area network. The authors of this article analyzed the results of the research work. Based on the results of the research, the hypothesis was confirmed that personal computers can be used as devices for the calcined acquisition of acoustic speech information without the use of additional peripheral equipment. The authors also proved the relevance of information leakage using personal computers without any additional technical means that allow unauthorized access to acoustic speech information.
