The article examines the specifics of the linguistic expression of the categories of evaluativeness and value in the texts of modern Russian media. Along with the analysis of lexical means of assessment, special attention is paid to the functioning of word-formative neologisms as means of expressing negative assessments that have an influencing potential and are aimed at forming a system of values in a multicultural society.
