The program “Topos. Research in Local Studies” is a synthesis of the traditional approach of local historians and researchers and the modern ecosystem approach to the development of open educational environments, training of mentors and scientific leaders and the organization of modern youth’s local studies. The concept presents the basic principles and algorithms for organizing local history activities within the education system (additional and general) based on research and project activity. The article also presents an algorithm for implementing research on the ‘topos’ and the ‘chronotope’ (an area within its borders and in time) with the aim of developing and improving the world around oneself. The program sets the basic principles of local history research, defines the main stages of the implementation of activities to develop educational communities in this direction. The emphasis is on noncompetitive formats for organizing productive activities in team work forms, growing a community on the cooperative principles.
