Применение санкций со стороны демократических режимов по отношению к автократиям: cui bono?
In modern political realities, the number of local conflicts between countries is growing, which leads to increasing attention from the governments of these countries to creation and improvement instruments of foreign policy pressure on rebellious states. Current practice shows that sanctions as a way of economic pressure continue to be used by democratic countries as an attempt to change the political regime or the policies of an authoritarian country. More and more countries are joining the actions of the sending country to neutralize the recipient country through sanctions.
At the same time, the motivation of the governments of the sending countries for imposing sanctions against authoritarian states remains poorly understood. It is also possible that the use of sanctions may be the result of a spontaneous game of political forces in the absence of an agent who independently decides on their imposition.
As a result of the study, it is planned to determine the motivation of sending countries to use sanctions as an instrument of international pressure at two levels: domestic and international, and also to answer the question “What interests were the motivation of key agents who made decisions on imposing sanctions?”
