The article deals with the state and prospects of EU - US relations after the coming to power of President D.Trump, taking into account the factor of Washington's opposition to Beijing. It is emphasized that transatlantic relations are now in the worst condition for the entire post-war period. The article consists of three parts. In the first, the author explains how Washington's trade protectionism has affected bilateral relations. In the second part, the author remembers that Trump before his election announced the priority focus on bilateral relations with the EU member-states, while weakening relations with Brussels, which caused a negative reaction of Europeans. There is also a negative attitude of president Trump to multilateral institutions as such, in particular, to the WTO and NATO. Finally, in the third part, the author points to Europe's deep concern about the policy of the new American administration. While remaining deeply connected and dependent on the United States in many areas, the European Union has to be ready for any future scenarios for the development of transatlantic relations.
