At HSE University–St Petersburg, Experts Discuss How AI Changes Tourist Routes and Cultural Heritage
Neural networks are no longer simple travel assistants; now they decide what to include on the route and what to skip. Artificial intelligence changes how people perceive a place and shapes the image of tourist centres. At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference ’Information Technologies in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,’ researchers discussed who controls algorithmic solutions and in what ways, and whether authentic traditions get lost in them.

Routledge, 2020.
Academic editor: E. Protassova, A. Mustajoki, M. Yelenevskaya
Chapters
The democratization of Russian
Mustajoki A., , in: The Soft Power of the Russian Language: Pluricentricity, Politics and Policies (Studies in Contemporary Russia).: Routledge, 2020. P. 21–34.
People are not born with equal opportunities. This also concerns their linguistic capabilities. At the same time, human language is, by its very nature, democratic in the sense that all children learn their mother tongue in a similar way – by imitating the speech of their parents and building on that basis their own personal ...

The Russian language away from the Metropolis: challenges of pluricentric development
Mustajoki A., Protassova E., Yelenevskaya M., , in: The Soft Power of the Russian Language: Pluricentricity, Politics and Policies (Studies in Contemporary Russia).: Routledge, 2020. Ch. 1 P. 3–12.
Russian as a pluricentric language demonstrates differences in pronunciation, lexis, syntactical structures and regional specificity of grammar deviations. The imposition of the norm, which is difficult even in the metropolis, is hardly possible in the diaspora, where host countries’ realities have a strong impact on the Russian language spoken outside the nation. Even support of ...

Степанов А. Г., Slavica Tergestina. Italy 2025 Т. 35 № 2 С. 158–193
The connection of the poetic form with the content is investigated. The free verse, developed by W. Whitman in the second half of the 19th century, took root in the USSR with difficulty. In modern Russian poetry, the free verse, while preserving the aura of Western poetic culture, often combines gender and political meanings, broadcasting ...

Semantic number agreement in Balkar
Podobryaev A., Ivlieva N., Glossa: a journal of general linguistics 2026 Vol. 11 No. 1 P. 1–25
Unlike many other Turkic languages, Balkar normally demonstrates obligatory subject-verb number agreement in finite clauses with 3rd person subjects: when a subject is plural-marked, so is the verb. However, there are cases when the subject is not overtly plural-marked, but the verb can be. We argue for an account where such facts are not reduced to any form ...

Гипокористические имена на -ец- в древнерусском языке
Budennaya E., Slovĕne 2026 Т. 1 С. 31–67
The article examines Old Russian anthroponyms with the suffix -ec-, originally conveying the meaning ‘less than X’. A diachronic corpus study of 11th–17th-century texts reveals that while this suffix lacked inherent pejorative connotations in Old Russian sources, contextual (adherent) pejoration is clearly observable. For pre-15th-century chronicles, two primary usage patterns are identified—1) characters with explicit negative evaluation, and 2) ...

Nomos e poikilía dell'Essere. Genesi metafisica del molteplice. Una deduzione schellinghiana
Dezi A., Sesto San Giovanni: Mimesis, 2026.
This book is a metaphysical inquiry into the nature and origin of the manifold. Taking Schelling’s Erlangen lectures of 1820–1821 as its point of departure and hermeneutic horizon, it develops an interpretation of Nomos that transcends its political, juridical, and social determinations. Nomos thereby emerges as the ontological principle of an infinite, variegated multiplicity of ...

Vague stimulating ideas, images and metaphors in scientific thinking: researchers' work with horizons of unclear knowledge
Poddiakov A., / Series Social Science Research Network "Social Science Research Network". 2026. No. 7437658.
Clarity of knowledge and reasoning is necessary in many cases. Yet vagueness in scientific thinking related to surprise, curiosity, "ability to engage with not-knowing" (de Freitas) and abductive reasoning is also a crucially important source of scientific creativity which supplements combinatorial logic when dealing with the already known. Starting from studies by C. S. Peirce ...
