The article analyzes A. Zvyagintsev’s film “Leviathan” on the basis
of approaches of modern institutional political economy. With the
help of well-chosen images of characters and a thoughtful scenario
the repressive state policy to private business, as well as to a person
in general, is revealed. Instead of an active business and family life,
the power erects the temple of the Leviathan state. This idea was
conveyed to the spectators by expressive artistic means.
