S. B. Kokina is an Associate Professor of the School of Private Law (the Faculty of law of the Higher School of Economics). The author analyses the issues of the legal protection of theatrical staging and the status of theater director as the owner of the related rights to the stage production as it settled in part four of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. She proves copyright nature of stage directors’ rights to performances. Various work mode of copyright protection of theatrical productions are being studied.
