Мессианизм в Септуагинте: история вопроса и методологические проблемы
Свет Христов просвещает всех : Альманах Свято-Филаретовского православно-христианского института. 2016. № 20. С. 31–47.
According to most researchers Septuagint demonstrates development of
messianism in comparison with the Masoretic text of the Old Testament. However
some studies, primarily articles by Johan Lust, show that this view is supported by
very weak evidence. This article analyzes the two key passages of the Septuagint
Genesis 49:10 and Isaiah 9:5 (6), taken as an example of how much different can
be approaches to the Greek text of the Old Testament and to how much different
conclusions, researchers may come, applying different methods of text analysis.
The final part makes a summary of basic methodological problems arising in the
study of messianism in the Septuagint.

Th is article examines the conceptual and factual failure of liberal modernization in the contemporary
era. Transitology, so infl uential in the 1990s, has faded into oblivion. Th e Western model has failed to take hold
in many post-socialist countries. In terms of democratization, the gap between Russia and the countries that
adopted this model has become radical. ...

The crystallization of apocalyptic and eschatological ideas in the Jewish tradition began during the Babylonian captivity and continued during the Second Temple period. In a developed form, Jewish eschatology is presented in the book of Daniel (second century B.C.), in the book of Enoch (last centuries B.C.), in the New Testament, and in numerous Jewish ...

“Chŏng Kam’s Writings” (Chŏng Kam nok) is one of the most famous Korean prophetic sources. Anonymous, first appeared, most likely, around the 17th-18th centuries, most of the versions are lost. Judging by the existing texts, “Chŏng Kam’s Writings” is a complex of different predictions, but the main text is the conversation between two fortune-telling officials ...

It has long been recognised that the LXX and Targumim share common exegesis of a number of verses and words. In contrast to the hypothesis of a direct influence of the early forms of Targumim on the LXX, I believe that these versions rather reflect a common approach to the interpretation of biblical texts, as ...

In the LXX-Psalter, in about 80% of cases, the choice between past, present, and future/non-indicative (in the present paper we consider future tense and non-indicative moods together) was predetermined by the tenses of the original. As for the remaining 20%, some of these “abnormal” renderings can be explained as inheriting the tense value from the ...

Discussing the variants חבלי־מות in Psa 18,5 and משברי־מות in 2 Sam 22,5 I join Talmon in considering them not transmission errors, but synonymous readings. However, I demonstrate that the equating of these two terms as both denoting “birth pangs” is not attested in the Hebrew Bible but is a later exegetical development. I argue ...

The article discusses the fragments of Pseudo-Hecataeus’ work “On the Jews” (Josephus, C. Ap. 1.183–205) from a new, literary perspective that highlights the author’s relationship to Hecataeus of Abdera, Clearchus of Soli, and Aristeas, and describes his position within contemporary Jewish culture in the Egyptian diaspora. Pseudo-Hecataeus demonstrates a strong anti-hellenization tendency in the questions which are ...

In the Septuagint, the word “law” (in the singular) always refers to the Law of God. The singular is semantically loaded: the Law is one, just as there is one God and one Temple. This translation strategy is the same for all the books of the Old Greek translation. The appearance of the plural forms ...
