HSE Scientists Train Neural Network to 'Hear' Faults in Electric Motors
Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. The study results have been published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

'The Humanities Serve as a Conscience'
Maria Mizernaia studies Soviet literature and the history of book publishing. In this interview for the HSE Young Scientists project, she discusses plans to publish a novel about besieged Leningrad, AI-provoked reflections on what it means to be human, and how novels can help satisfy our dopamine hunger.

Is It Possible to Predict a Citys Life Based on the Shape of Its Neighbourhoods?
Is it possible to predict, based on the configuration of streets and buildings, where a café will open or where traffic congestion will occur? Participants in the Spatial Analysis and Modelling of Urban Processes research and study group use open data and machine learning to identify universal patterns. Alexander Sheludkov and Eduard Somov discuss the purpose of comparing cities, the need for new forms of urban statistics, and how open data is transforming approaches to urban studies.

Breaking the Chains. Following-from and Transitivity

P. 221–275.
Zardini E.

I start with some rather dogmatic statements, simply in order to x a speci c enough
framework against which to investigate the topic of this paper. The reader who does not
share some or all of the doctrines thereby expressed is invited to modify the rest of the
discussion in this paper in accordance to her favourite views on logical consequence (I'd
myself sympathize in some cases with such a reader).

Соотношение логического следования и импликации в релевантной логике
Moiseeva A., Вестник Томского государственного университета. Философия. Социология. Политология 2024 № 81 С. 39–47
The article defends the following theses: 1. The interpretation of relevant implication as a formalization of the natural concept of entailment leads to the fact that the logical properties attributed to the implication in a specific version of relevant logic are transferred to the level of semantics and determine the properties of the model. 2. ...

Instability and Contraction
Zardini E., Journal of Philosophical Logic 2019 Vol. 48 No. 1 P. 155–188
In other works, I’ve proposed a solution to the semantic paradoxes which, at the technical level, basically relies on failure of contraction. I’ve also suggested that, at the philosophical level, contraction fails because of the instability of certain states of affairs. In this paper, I try to make good on that suggestion. ...

Logic in Opposition
Schang F., Studia Humana 2013 Vol. 2 No. 3 P. 31–45
It is claimed hereby that, against a current view of logic as a theory of consequence, opposition is a basic logical concept that can be used to define consequence itself. This requires some substantial changes in the underlying framework, including: a non-Fregean semantics of questions and answers, instead of the usual truth-conditional semantics; an extension ...
