At HSE University–St Petersburg, Experts Discuss How AI Changes Tourist Routes and Cultural Heritage
Neural networks are no longer simple travel assistants; now they decide what to include on the route and what to skip. Artificial intelligence changes how people perceive a place and shapes the image of tourist centres. At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference ’Information Technologies in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,’ researchers discussed who controls algorithmic solutions and in what ways, and whether authentic traditions get lost in them.

Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications in Future Wi-Fi Networks

.

In press

Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC) is an important challenge for the next generation wireless networks, which poses very strict requirements to the delay and packet loss ratio. Satisfaction is hardly possible without introducing additional functionality to the existing communication technologies. In the paper, we propose and study an approach to enable URLLC in Wi-Fi networks by exploiting an additional radio similar to that of 802.11ba. We develop a mathematical model of a heterogeneous network with devices transmitting regular and URLLC data. With the model, we evaluate the efficiency of the proposed approach in terms of delay for URLLC traffic and throughput available for non-URLLC traffic. We show that our approach allows decreasing the delay by orders of magnitude, while the throughput is reduced insignificantly.

A key feature of 5G systems is the Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communication (URLLC), which can be used for remote surgery, smart grids, industrial control, etc. URLLC requires millisecond-level delays and very high reliability, i.e., less than 10−5 packet loss probability. The ability to satisfy these very strict quality of service requirements depends on selecting the Modulation and Coding ...
