The article is an observation of the newly recognized documents in the Research Archives, St.Petersburg Institute for History, for studying Prince Hans’ of Denmark visit to Muscovy in 1602. The place of these documents in the documental complex of provincial State offices is also under consideration. The article shows the role of the sources for studying social landscape of Muscovite North-West immediately before the Time of Troubles: the nomenclature of different ranks in the towns of Novgorod Military District; the mobilization possibilities of Novgorod stockholders, the issue of famine in early 17th century.
