This article deals with the structure of the so called “special/checkup-fltration” NKVD camps during the Great Patriotic War. It contains data about the staff and sources of its recruitment in the camps, reveals conflicts between counter-intelligence services and camps administration, and dwells upon the struggle among Soviet ministries for employment of people from the camps. The author gives an assessment to the eficiency of the special checkup.
