On the basis of a long experience of teaching the Person-Centered approach in counseling and psychotherapy in various universities of Russia and by generalization of diaries of Masters students of specialization "Person-Centered Approach" at National Research University Higher School of Economics are described typical difficulties experienced when mastering this approach. The following difficulties are described: 1) incorrect understanding of the Person-Centered approach and Client-Centered psychotherapy, namely, incorrect idea of their simplicity and plainness; 2) doubt in sufficiency of Person-Centered approach or Client-Centered psychotherapy for successful psychological practice; 3) difficulties when mastering competence of congruence, empathy, unconditional positive regard; 4) need of essential personal changes, in particular, overcoming judgement in relationships and conditional self-regard; 5) tough commitment to objective causality as explanatory model; 6) difficulty with acceptance of responsibility for one's own experience, a habit to accuse others or circumstances as the reason of once misfortune; 7) insistent aspiration "to do something" with the client (as opposition to"congruent being" with the client); 8) temporary deterioration in relations with people in a social environment (a narcissitic error); 9) view of the Person-Centered approach as a set of values (as opposition to a set of skills). Knowledge of these difficulties helps to build more conscious and more effective training of the Person-Centered approach.
