With the development of the global information society in Russia demand for professional PR-specialists who not just possess practical skills, but rather has deep understanding of the essential characteristics of the Institute of PR, is increasing. And here comes the problem of separation between the PR and marketing activity fields. To analyze these issues the author performs a study on the perception of PR-specialists of the following areas: Their place in the communication activities of the company; The nature and limits of their functions; The ratio of their "weight classes" in the communication activities of the company.
