The paper considers the basic processes of functioning of the cross-cutting themes in the artistic cultures in the I millennium BC on the basis of Πότνια θηρῶν image analysis (Lady of the beasts). Firstly, the sample selection criteria were formulated for the analysis based on the identification and methods of representation of the primary actor. Secondly, conclusions were made about the reasons for the popularity of the image in the middle VII–VI centuries BC and the boundaries of its area that allows us to represent not only the specifics of the functioning of this type, but to define the role, place and methods of representation of cross-cutting themes in the artistic cultures in the I millennium BC.
