The article is the review of the scientific journal "Language Policy" of Springer publishing house that is especially interesting for scientists, students, experts and politicians working in the field of applied linguistics, language policy, sociolinguistics and language education.
The journal relies on Cooper's ideology [Cooper, 1989], adding a third key area (language education) to the traditional components of language policy (the form of the language and its status).
The history, ideology, subjects and research methods of the journal will be discussed in the review, paying a special attention to the key figures of the editorial board. Moreover, two short reviews of the most cited articles in the last three years will be provided, namely: "Thinking about language:what political theorists need to know about language in the real world" (Thomas Ricento) and "De-politicizing language:obstacles to political theory’s engagement with language policy" (Peter Ives).
