Scientists Create Open Dataset for Studying Concentration
A team of Russian researchers, including scientists from HSE University–St Petersburg, has developed the first open multimodal dataset containing recordings of brain activity, heart function, and video observations to help researchers understand what happens in the human brain during deep concentration. In the future, the dataset could accelerate the development of neural interfaces, rehabilitation technologies, and AI systems. The article has been published in Scientific Data.

‘Science Is Universal-It Knows No Borders
Fuad Aleskerov, Tenured Professor and Director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis at HSE University, together with his colleagues, has developed methods of network analysis in bibliometrics that have made it possible to identify patterns in the appearance and citation of publications in academic journals, as well as their influence on each other. When one or a number of studies are frequently cited by a wide range of journals, this is an indicator that the research is of high quality. By contrast, extensive cross-citation within a limited group of journals increases the likelihood of identifying a network of predatory publications.

Выбор терапии онкологического заболевания в подгруппах пациентов на основе анализа замкнутых описаний

С. 352–359.
Korepanova N., Kuznetsov S.

The main tools of modern evidence-based medicine in comparing different treatments of lethal diseases are statistical criteria applied to results of randomized studies. However, important information is often lost in this kind of studies. In this paper we propose an approach to treatment selection in subgroups of patients given by similarity of their physiological and clinical descriptions. This similarity is naturally described by closed descriptions in terms of so called pattern structures.

Korepanova N., , in: Proceedings of the first Workshop on Data Analysis in Medicine (WDAM-2017)Issue 6.: EasyChair, 2018. P. 48–53.
Modern medicine aspire to improve the effectiveness of treatment for some diseases through, so called, personalized medicine. However, totally personalized medicine or personalized treatment of even one disease is a very ambitious goal. Subgroup analysis of patients is a preliminary step to the total personalization. Several completely different views on the principles and usefulness of ...

Машинное обучение для оптимизации лечения в подгруппах пациентов
Korepanova N., Искусственный интеллект и принятие решений 2018 № 1 С. 54–66
In clinical trials comparing experimental and control treatment the effect of treatment often depends on the range of patient’s characteristics (biomarkers) such as clinical, anthropological, genetic, psychological, social characteristics and others. Personalized medicine aims at finding such dependencies to tailor treatment strategies to a patient. This paper presents an overview of the approaches to data ...

Pattern Structures for Treatment Optimization
Natalia V. Korepanova, Sergei O. Kuznetsov, , in: CLA 2016: Proceedings of the Thirteenth International Conference on Concept Lattices and Their Applications. CEUR Workshop ProceedingsVol. 1624.: M.: Higher School of Economics, National Research University, 2016. P. 217–229.
A comparison of different treatment strategies does not always result in determining the best one for all patients, one needs to study subgroups of patients with significant difference in efficiency between treatment strategies. To solve this problem an approach to subgroups generation is proposed, where data are described in terms of a pattern structure and ...
