Time to Showcase Your Research: Applications Are Now Open for Student Research Paper Competition 2026
Taking part in the Student Research Paper Competition (SRPC) gives you an opportunity to present your research to experts, receive an independent assessment, and determine the future direction of your work. The competition is open to students graduating in 2026 not only from HSE University but from universities in Russia and abroad. Papers may be submitted in Russian and English, and in some fields also in French, German, and Spanish.

‘Hedgehog Versus ‘Relatives: Researchers Measure How the Brain Responds to Unexpected Words During Natural Speech
Russian neurophysiologists, including researchers from HSE University, have demonstrated the feasibility of using event-related fields (ERFs) to study brain activity during natural speech perception. The researchers showed that this approach can be applied not only to individual words but also to continuous speech. Their findings indicate that words whose meanings differ significantly from the preceding context require longer processing times. The study also reveals that the brain processes function words in two stages: first, it identifies their grammatical role and then uses this information to predict the next word. The study has been published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience.

Scientists Develop Algorithm for More Reliable Processors in Data Centres
Researchers from HSE MIEM and Samara University have developed the LRF-3D algorithm to automatically bypass idle nodes in three-dimensional networks-on-chip. Thanks to its hierarchical architecture, the algorithm outperforms existing solutions in both speed and path accuracy, improving processor reliability for use in data centres, supercomputers, and AI computing. The source code and test results are publicly available.

Methods and apparatus for microwave thermotherapy based on slow-wave systems

P. 263–266.
Yelizarov (Elizarov) A. A., Pchelnikov Y., Shaymardanov R.

One of the perspective directions of slow wave systems usage is possibility of their implementation in biology and medicine as antennas and radiators for radio-frequency and microwave physical therapy, a radiothermy and a tomography, sensitive elements for medical diagnostics, devices for sterilization and heat treatment. Advantages of slow wave systems usage in biology and medicine are based on electrodynamic and design features of structures which follow from distribution of an electromagnetic field near their surfaces. Here we are looking for features for usage of slow wave systems on area with high value of dielectric permeability, in particular to biofabrics, and also the problems related to creation of electrodes for intracavitary microwave physical therapy on slow wave systems with primary concentration of electric field in biofabrics, adjacent to electrode surface. In this article the results of modeling microwave radiator on the basis of a ribbed coaxial line were received using Ansoft HFSS v.12 and CST Microwave Studio 2011 software.

Models of the cylindrical electrode for physiotherapy formed by a ribbed coaxial line were investigated and analyzed in this paper. The increasing towered the open end one, two or three longitudinal slots in the screen electrode were used to achieve the required distribution of the electromagnetic field in the surrounding tissue. The averaged dispersion characteristics ...

Medical electrod developing based on slow-wave system in case of prostate gland disease
Yelizarov (Elizarov) A. A., Shaymardanov R., , in: Proceedings 2014 International Conference on Information Science, Electronics and Electrical Engineering (ISEEE - 2014), April 26-28, 2014, Sapporo City, Hokkaido, JapanVol. 2.: Sapporo City: Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, 2014. P. 702–707.
This article considers prostate gland disease method of treatment. The electrodynamic analysis of an electrode based on slow-wave system like the “ribbed coaxial line” is carried out. Received analytical ratios allowing to make calculation of dispersive characteristics and wave resistance. Parameters of such electrode depend on the geometrical sizes of forming conductors and the dielectric ...

Электродинамический анализ резонатора на основе коаксиальной ребристой линии
Yelizarov (Elizarov) A. A., Shaymardanov R., T-Comm: Телекоммуникации и транспорт 2012 № 10 С. 54–55
Проведен электродинамический анализ резонатора на основе коаксиальной ребристой линии. Получены соотношения, позволяющие осуществить расчет ее дисперсионных характеристик и волнового сопротивления в зависимости от геометрических размеров образующих проводников и диэлектрического заполнения. Дано качественное сравнение теоретических зависимостей и результатов физического эксперимента. Показана перспективность применения такой структуры для создания различных СВЧ устройств. ...
