Immunity to Chaos: How Personal Resources Help Us Cope with the Challenges of a Turbulent World
International conflicts, crises and digital overload—the modern world puts our minds to the test every day. Traditional psychology often focuses on the consequences: anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic disorders. But what if we looked at the problem differently—through the lens of the resources that prevent us from breaking down? Psychological immunity is precisely this set of resources. Alena Zolotareva and her group, Psychological Immunity as a Resource for Positive Functioning, are developing an integrative model of this phenomenon, adapting diagnostic tools and preparing for large-scale empirical research. Why do psychologists need to collaborate with medical professionals, and how could their research transform preventive care in clinics and corporations?

How to Assess Students Knowledge in the Age of AI
A researcher at HSE University has proposed a flowchart to help lecturers decide how to assess students who use artificial intelligence. It shows where the use of AI should be restricted and where it can be incorporated into the learning process. The article has been published in IT Professional.

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

On jamming-proof signal-code constructions for a multiple access system

P. 74 –77.
Osipov D.
In what follows signal-code constructions employing block and convolutional nonbinary inner codes that can perform under severe jamming are proposed. Robustness of the proposed signal-code constructions to jamming is verified by means of simulation.

Theoretical and experimental upper and lower bounds on the efficiency of convolutional codes in a binary symmetric channel
Kurmukova A., Ivanov F., Zyablov V. V., Problems of Information Transmission 2022 Vol. 58 No. 2 P. 122–136
We propose a new approach to the analytical estimation of the error burst probability, the probability of erroneous decoding, and the probability of error per bit for convolutional codes with Viterbi decoding in a binary symmetric channel (BSC). Upper and lower estimates of the probability of error per bit and of the erroneous decoding probability ...

Generalized concatenated codes with soft decoding of inner and outer codes
Zhilin I., Kreshchuk A., Zyablov V., , in: 2016 International Symposium on Information Theory and Its Applications (ISITA).: Monterey: IEEE, 2016. P. 290–294.
In this paper we propose a generalized concatenated code (GC code) construction based on shortened Reed-Solomon inner codes and nonbinary LDPC outer codes. We also propose a soft-input decoder for this construction that makes use of soft-input soft-output decoding of both inner and outer codes. We show that this construction gives significant coding gain. We ...

On the code distance of a woven block code construction
Zhilin I., Kreshchuk A., Zyablov V., , in: 2017 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT).: IEEE, 2017. P. 16–20.
In this paper we propose a woven block code construction based on two convolutional outer codes and a single inner code. We proved lower and upper bounds on this construction's code distance. The lower bound is shown to be higher than the product of the free distances of inner and outer constituent codes. Since this ...

On the Performance of Block Woven Codes Constructions with Row-Wise Permutations
Kreshchuk A., Zhilin I., Zyablov V., Lecture Notes in Computer Science 2017 Vol. 10495 P. 217–227
In this paper we propose a woven block code construction based on two convolutional codes. We also propose a soft-input decoder that allows this construction to have better error correction performance than the turbo codes with a conventional decoder. Computer simulation has showed a 0.1 dB energy gain relative to the LTE turbo code. Asymptotically ...

Stukach O., Romanyuk A. N., Ivanov Y. Y., , in: 2017 International Siberian Conference on Control and Communications (SIBCON).: IEEE, 2017. Ch. 1 P. 1–6.
In the paper, we will discuss the powerfull class of channel codes referred to as turbo codes. We commence with a brief discussion for MAP and log-MAP decoding algorithms. Then we work with proposed turbo decoding method, which is called as PL-log-MAP. Some numerical results and research experiments, such as simulation for bit error rate ...

Statistical demodulators for frequency shift keying with fast frequency hopping
Kreshchuk A., Potapov V. G., Automation and Remote Control 2013 Vol. 74 No. 10 P. 1688–1695
This work is devoted to the problems of information transmission with frequency shift keying and fast frequency hopping in special channels where the signal/noise ratio is low, and a high energy interfering signal is present. We propose a demodulation algorithm that is significantly more stable to the influence of a powerful interfering signal as compared ...

Better goodness-of-fit statistics for coded FSK decoding
Alexey Kreshchuk, Potapov V., Electronic Notes in Discrete Mathematics 2017 Vol. 57 P. 139–145
In previous papers we have considered fast-frequency hopping frequency shift keying. We have proposed a decoder with low error rate in channels with low signal to interference ratio. This decoder uses the Kolmogorov-Smirnov criterion statistics to differentiate transmitted codeword from others. In this paper we consider different goodness-of-fit criterion to improve the decoder error rate. ...
