Article devoted to political and legal aspects if fight of Kazakh khans of the 18th c. for power over Bashkiria. On the base of documents and modern researches author analyzes the reasons of invitation of Kazakh rulers by Bashkirs, views on khan’s power from the point of Bashkir irebels as well as Kazakh khans themselves. Author comes to conclusion that Kazakh rulers intended to restore (to a greater or lesser extent) the Golden Horde in its borders, but substantially changed political conditions, position of Turkic-Mongol peoples of Volga-Ural region as well as of the Russian Empire didn’t allow to accomplish this task
