The main task of the article is to study the perlocutionary effect of cursing. After the analysis the author argues that cursing is not always a deliberate wish of harm or damage to the person, in cases of non-intentional curse the perlocutionary effect may be different from the traditionally expected one. In the last part of the article the author compares the speech acts of curse and menace, identifies their basic similarities and main differences.
