‘Our Team Consists of True Leaders in Their Respective Academic Disciplines
The HSE International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis studies a wide range of methods for analysing decision-making and possible scenarios for the development of natural, socio-economic, and political phenomena using various mathematical models. The application of advanced mathematical methods to forecasting helps to prevent negative outcomes and avoid erroneous decisions. The HSE News Service spoke to the centre’s director, Prof. Fuad Aleskerov, about its work.

International N5 Symposium ‘Neural Networks and Nonlinearity in Nizhny Novgorod Brings Together Scientists from Russia and Serbia
The International N5 Symposium ‘Neural Networks and Nonlinearity in Nizhny Novgorod’ was held at the Nizhny Novgorod House of Scientists from September 23 to 26. The event was organised by HSE University–Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod House of Scientists, with the participation of Sberbank and the Institute of Physics Belgrade. The symposium was held for the second time: the first conference took place in 2025 and attracted considerable interest from the academic community.

An Evolutionary Model of A Textured State Space Environment for Monitoring of Mobile-only Customer-centric Social Networks

.
Tsukanova O. A., Hou K., Semenova A., Maltseva S. V.

A strategy of "customer-centricity" as well as topical models of customer-centric companies is described. Propositions of effective social network technology application for various business aspects in such companies are suggested. Recommendations for theoretical description, analysis, modeling of customer-centric social networks and also for their monitoring with the aim of qualitative development are given. A case study of the WeChat mobile application is presented.

Customer-centricity (client-centricity) is a new concept for Russian public governance. However, since 2022, the implementation of the relevant principles has been brought to the level of a national strategic initiative. The article proposes an analysis of the issues to be considered when implementing customer-centricity in the practice of government agencies and institutions. The article examines ...

At the middle of the 2000-th, scientists studying the functioning of insect communities identified four basic patterns of the organizational structure of such communities. (i) Cooperation is more developed in groups with strong kinship. (ii) Cooperation in species with large colony sizes is often more developed than in species with small colony sizes. And small-sized ...

Open quasispecies systems: New approach to evolutionary adaptation
Samokhin I., Yakushkina T., Bratus A., Chinese Journal of Physics 2021 P. 1–27
Consider a mathematical model of evolutionary adaptation of fitness landscape and mutation matrix as a reaction to population changes. As a basis, we use an open quasispecies model, which is modified to include explicit death flow. We assume that evolutionary parameters of mutation and selection processes vary in a way to maximize the mean fitness ...

New versions of evolutionary models with lethal mutations
Yakushkina T., Saakian D., Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications 2018 Vol. 507 P. 470–477
In this paper, the impact of lethal mutations on evolutionary dynamics of asexual populations is analyzed. We suggest distinguishing different definitions of lethality, which lead to different mathematical formalizations of the microscopic model. Most of the studies focus on polyphasic lethality, meaning that individuals carrying lethal mutations have no offspring but consume common resources. In ...
