Экономическая стратегия лейбористской партии Великобритании
The article examines the UK Labour party’s strategy for stimulating economic growth. The paper examines the causes of Britain's economic stagnation and the factors hindering its recovery. The author argues that the inconsistency between British industrial strategy and budgetary policy is damaging the state’s ability to overcome stagnation. The study shows that the UK economic policy lacks long-term continuity, periods of active industrial policy alternate with periods of inactivity. However, even active industrial policy fails to significantly increase capital investment and consequently does not stimulate economic growth, as it is not supported by sufficient budgetary funding. The contradiction between declared industrial development goals and budgetary practices became evident after the global financial crisis of 2008-2009. The austerity measures implemented in the 2010s led to a significant reduction in government capital expenditure, leading to a chronic shortage of public investment. The economic strategy of Labour government does not envisage a significant increase in public investment. Also, it implies a sharp increase in the tax burden, which will inevitably result in a decline in private sector investment. The author predicts that the UK economy will continue to suffer a capital shortage, and therefore stagnation will not be overcome in the medium term.
