Тявзинский мир и Дубинная война
The Treaty of Teusina (Tyavzino), 1595, and the Club War (Nuijasota / Klubbekriget) represent two important tropes in the Russian-Soviet and Finnish historiography that emerged in the 19th and 20th centuries. The article proposes analyzing these “turning points” within the framework of the new political history of the Eastern Baltic, which is oriented toward the socialization of the historical and political narrative. Both the signing of the Peace Treaty in Teusina in May 1595 and the Club War of 1596–1597 constitute complex, closely intertwined processes. They should be considered, on the one hand, in the context of the acute dynastic struggle within the Swedish Kingdom, and on the other hand, as part of the efforts to achieve a compromise within the heterogeneous societies of the former Livonia, taking into account the important factor of Moscow’s “Baltic policy”.
