The article is devoted to the memoirs of S.N. Glinka about the War for the Fartherland of 1812. The memoirs of the famous conservative are interesting because of being the only memoirs, written by conservative author, and because of containing the ampraisement of the War in a context of Russian and world history. Glinka's interpretation of a battle between Russian Empire and Napoleonic France represented it as a battle between "sinful" rationalism and the values of the veneration of God, recognition of human's mind limitation, tradition and experience.
