'I Wish That People Would Place Greater Trust in Science'
When Tatiana Eremicheva chose Fundamental and Computational Linguistics as her field of study, she thought it would be about learning languages. Instead, she discovered it was about helping people. In this interview for the HSE Young Scientists project, she discusses science as a way of understanding the world, billiards as a team-building activity, and why learning to read is not always as easy as it seems.

Immunity to Chaos: How Personal Resources Help Us Cope with the Challenges of a Turbulent World
International conflicts, crises and digital overload—the modern world puts our minds to the test every day. Traditional psychology often focuses on the consequences: anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic disorders. But what if we looked at the problem differently—through the lens of the resources that prevent us from breaking down? Psychological immunity is precisely this set of resources. Alena Zolotareva and her group, Psychological Immunity as a Resource for Positive Functioning, are developing an integrative model of this phenomenon, adapting diagnostic tools and preparing for large-scale empirical research. Why do psychologists need to collaborate with medical professionals, and how could their research transform preventive care in clinics and corporations?

How to Assess Students Knowledge in the Age of AI
A researcher at HSE University has proposed a flowchart to help lecturers decide how to assess students who use artificial intelligence. It shows where the use of AI should be restricted and where it can be incorporated into the learning process. The article has been published in IT Professional.

Социальные медиа и макропруденциальная политика: влияние новостного сентимента на потребительское кредитование в России

Журнал Новой экономической ассоциации. 2027. № 1.
Lapteva E., Pashkov E., Кузьминых Е. А.
In press

This paper explores how the information environment influences consumer credit dynamics within the framework of macroprudential policy. The analysis is based on a dataset of messages from Russian economic Telegram channels. News sentiment and topical relevance are assessed using a multimodel approach that combines several large language models, thereby mitigating sensitivity to any single model’s architecture. The resulting aggregate measures are used to construct a financial stability sentiment index, which is then incorporated into an econometric analysis of consumer lending growth using bank-level panel data and macroeconomic indicators over the period 2017-2025. The results indicate a negative association between sentiment and consumer credit growth, as well as a structural shift in this relationship after 2022, when more favorable assessments of financial stability begin to move in tandem with credit expansion. The strength of these effects varies across banks depending on their characteristics and becomes more pronounced under tighter monetary conditions, confirming the importance of the information channel in the transmission of macroprudential measures. A series of robustness checks consistently supports the validity and stability of the main findings.

Pre-trained LLMs Meet Sequential Recommenders: Efficient User-Centric Knowledge Distillation
Severin N., Kartushov D., Urzhumov V. et al., , in: Advances in Information Retrieval: 48th European Conference on Information Retrieval, ECIR 2026, Delft, The Netherlands, March 29 – April 2, 2026, Proceedings, Part II. (LNCS, volume 16484).: Cham: Springer Publishing Company, 2026. P. 508–517.
Sequential recommender systems have achieved significant success in modeling temporal user behavior but remain limited in cap-turing rich user semantics beyond interaction patterns. Large Language Models (LLMs) present opportunities to enhance user understanding with their reasoning capabilities, yet existing integration approaches cre-ate prohibitive inference costs in real time. To address these limitations, we present a ...

The deployment of large language models (LLMs) in interactive roles such as automated negotiators, customer service agents, and strategic partners requires them to handle not only logical tasks but also the socio-emotional dimensions of interaction. In these situations, success often relies on understanding social cues, building trust, and using persuasion effectively. These skills are closely ...

Event sequences, a specialized type of tabular data annotated with timestamps, are prevalent across practical domains such as finance, retail, social networks, and healthcare. Despite the importance of event sequence modeling and analysis, there has been little effort to adapt Large Language Models (LLMs) to this domain. In this paper, we propose a novel solution ...

Jin S., Panfilov P., Сулейкин А. С., Труды Института системного программирования РАН 2025 Т. 37 № 6 С. 163–176
In the modern restaurant business, accurate mapping of product nomenclatures between restaurants and suppliers is a critical task. Effective inventory management and procurement optimization directly impact business profitability. With the increase in suppliers and product variety, traditional mapping methods become less efficient. This study proposes using large language models (LLM) to automate and improve the ...

Hit identification is a central challenge in early drug discovery, traditionally requiring substantial experimental resources. Recent advances in artificial intelligence, particularly large language models (LLMs), have enabled virtual screening methods that reduce costs and improve efficiency. However, the growing complexity of these tools has limited their accessibility to wet-lab researchers. Multi-agent systems offer a promising ...
