Scientists Develop Algorithm for Accurate Financial Time Series Forecasting
Researchers at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science benchmarked more than 200,000 model configurations for predicting financial asset prices and realised volatility, showing that performance can be improved by filtering out noise at specific frequencies in advance. This technique increased accuracy in 65% of cases. The authors also developed their own algorithm, which achieves accuracy comparable to that of the best models while requiring less computational power. The study has been published in Applied Soft Computing.

Comprehensive analysis of compressible and incompressible nematic flow caused by thermomechanical force

Chemical Physics Letters. 2025. Vol. 883. Article 142528.
S̀liwa I., Maslennikov P., Pasechnik S., Alex V. Zakharov

A numerical study of the effect of thermomechanical force on dissipation processes in a microsized compressible and incompressible hybrid aligned nematics has been carried out. Calculations have shown that under the effect of a temperature gradient , a hybrid aligned compressible and incompressible nematic samples settles down to the stationary flow  regimes, and the thermomechanical force strongly influences the directions and magnitudes of . A small quantitative difference was found in the equilibrium distribution of the horizontal velocity component for both compressible and incompressible nematic flow caused by the same , which is set up across the microsized hybrid aligned nematic channel.

Asymmetric Equilibrium Structures of Superthin Current Sheets: The Asymmetry of Plasma Sources
Tsareva O. O., Malova H. V., V. Yu. Popov et al., Plasma Physics Reports 2026 Vol. 52 No. 2 P. 179–185
The influence of asymmetry of plasma sources on the structure and spatial localization of a superthin current sheet (STCS) supported by demagnetized electrons is studied using a self-consistent model. The simulation takes into account the presence of a single plasma source in the northern hemisphere, which makes the plasma flow asymmetric. It is demonstrated that the asymmetry of ...

Stable Multi-Wavelength Resonant Metal-dielectric Hybrid Nanostructure in the Infrared Range
Zadkov V., Plasmonics 2026 Vol. 21 P. 1503–1512
Plasmonic nanostructures typically exhibit shifts in their resonant wavelength in response to changes in the refractive index of the surrounding medium. This limits their applications in scenarios requiring stable optical resonances. Here we present a metallic-dielectric hybrid metasurface that exhibits stable multi-wavelength resonance even if the refractive index of its surrounding varies. To quantitatively evaluate the stability of ...

Cross-influence of two societies in deterministic evolutionary game
Shchur L., Antonov D., Burovski E., International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos in Applied Sciences and Engineering 2026 P. 1–9
We present a simple model that simulates the possible influence of one society on another. Specifically, two societies evolve deterministically according to the well-known Nowak-May spatial game with the addition of mutual influence through connections that reflect the current states of the societies. This may be related to the influence of a global information resource ...

Ising models on the hydrogen peroxide and other lattices
Qin X., Deng Y., Shchur L. et al., / Series arXiv "math". 2026. No. 2603.02962.
We perform a Monte Carlo analysis of the Ising model on many three-dimensional lattices. By means of finite-size scaling we obtain the critical points and determine the scaling dimensions. As expected, the critical exponents agree with the three-dimensional Ising universality class for all models. The irrelevant field, as revealed by the correction-to-scaling amplitudes, appears to ...

Theory of capillary-induced self-coacervation in zwitterionic polymer solutions
Kalikin N., Брандышев П. Е., Budkov Y., Journal of Chemical Physics 2026 Vol. 164 Article 154904
This study presents a mean-field theory for zwitterionic polymer solutions confined within attractive slit-like nanopores. Building upon our prior model for self-coacervation [Budkov et al., Soft Matter 19, 3281–3289 (2023)], we demonstrate that strong electrostatic dipole–dipole correlations between monomeric units, coupled with attraction to pore walls, can induce capillary-driven liquid–liquid phase separation inside the pore—a ...

Kasapenko N., Orlova T., N. Kondratyuk, Journal of Chemical Physics 2025 Vol. 162 No. 15 Article 154901
Molecular dynamics methods have proven their applicability for the simulation of the structure and properties of liquid crystals. For the reproduction of phase transitions in liquid crystals, many authors have reparameterized the classical force fields. For the first time, we demonstrate that even a general-purpose force field, for example, General AMBER Force Field (GAFF), without ...

P.V. Dolganov, Зверев А. С., K. D. Baklanova et al., Soft Matter 2022 Vol. 18 P. 126–136
We investigated the coalescence of nematic droplets in an isotropic environment and that of isotropic droplets in a nematic environment in quasi-two-dimensional geometry of a flat optical cell. Two different regimes of coalescence were found. In the circular meniscus between the nematic and isotropic regions both nematic and isotropic phases exist. As a result, two bridges form at ...

P.V. Dolganov, Zverev A. S., K.D. Baklanova et al., Physical Review E - Statistical, Nonlinear, and Soft Matter Physics 2021 Vol. 104 No. 1 Article 014702
We observed the formation of small satellite droplets from the bridge at droplet coalescence. Investigations were made using a Hele-Shaw cell in the two-phase region at the nematic-isotropic phase transition. In previous works on coalescence it was considered that before the start of coalescence there exists a bridge between the outer fluid connecting regions on the two sides of the ...

Interaction and self-organization of inclusions in two-dimensional free-standing smectic films
P.V. Dolganov, Cluzeau P., Dolganov V. K., Liquid Crystals Reviews 2019 Vol. 7 No. 1 P. 1–29
In this article we review interactions and collective behavior of inclusions in free-standing smectic films with in-plane orientational ordering. The inclusions interact on large distances and can form various self-organised structures. Topological defects of the director field play a key role in self-organization. Various types of interaction are realized, including dipolar, quadrupolar and interactions of ...

Shuravin N. S., P.V. Dolganov, Dolganov V. K., Physical Review E - Statistical, Nonlinear, and Soft Matter Physics 2019 Vol. 99 No. 6 P. 062702
Freestanding smectic films give a unique possibility to study two-dimensional coalescence. We report experimental investigations in freestanding films and detailed analysis of coalescence of islands, circular regions of larger thickness than the surrounding film. The driving force of island coalescence is the dislocation tension on the boundary between the island and the film. The obtained ...
