This study examines the transformation of the visual code of the pirate archetype within the universe of Eiichiro Oda's manga and anime One Piece. It analyzes the process of deconstructing established stereotypical elements of piracy and their subsequent infusion with new meaning. Using the example of the main protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, and his crew, the article demonstrates how the pirate image evolves from a symbol of lawlessness and greed into a complex symbol of freedom, dreams, and ethical resistance. Particular attention is paid to the reception of this updated image in the real world, as evidenced by the use of the "Straw Hat" symbolism in contemporary protest movements.
