Сельский сход и православный приход: повседневные практики прихожан по решению актуальных вопросов в Казанской епархии в 1917 г.
The article examines the transformations in the daily practices of the Orthodox clergy and parishioners in the Kazan province. It analyzes the resolutions on daily issues of rural parishes, implemented through the communal body of the rural assembly called 'selskij skhod'. The materials from the central and local archives of church record management are also considered, including the office of the Synod and Kazan Ecclesiastical Consistory.
It is shown that parishioners attempted to use official authorities such as the parish council and village council to legalize decisions that often went beyond official legal boundaries. In most cases, clergy acted as "third parties" in resolving conflicts over private property and were the most vulnerable group in the parish. Due to their lack of means of livelihood and authority within the church, they were often unable to effectively resolve conflicts.
And the state, through the sentences passed by the local assembly, suspended the priests from their duties.
