At HSE University–St Petersburg, Experts Discuss How AI Changes Tourist Routes and Cultural Heritage
Neural networks are no longer simple travel assistants; now they decide what to include on the route and what to skip. Artificial intelligence changes how people perceive a place and shapes the image of tourist centres. At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference ’Information Technologies in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,’ researchers discussed who controls algorithmic solutions and in what ways, and whether authentic traditions get lost in them.

Proceedings of the 2025 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP)

Association for Computational Linguistics, 2025.
Under the general editorship: C. Christodoulopoulos, T. Chakraborty, C. Rose, V. Peng

The book contains this year’s edition of the Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural
Language Processing! Importantly, it marks the 30th edition of EMNLP. With over 8,000 submissions,
more than 3,000 accepted papers, and thousands of attendees, we have come a long way from that first
workshop, which had 14 accepted papers. As the field looks ahead, Suzhou is the fitting location for
celebrating this milestone: rooted in a long literary tradition, yet modern and forward-looking, and home
to a large share of the NLP community.

Focusing the Diffusion: Importance Sampling for One-Shot Subject-Driven Image Generation
Mamedov I., Fofanov M., Lukianchenko P. et al., IEEE Access 2026 No. 14 P. 26662–26671
DreamBooth-style personalization, which often relies on one or a few images, can memorize context (background, pose, lighting) rather than learning the subject’s identity, thereby reducing fidelity and limiting prompt-driven edits. P-LoRA (Probability LoRA) is introduced as a training-time modification that biases diffusion timestep sampling and utilizes importance weights, ensuring that the overall objective remains unchanged. ...

Sandpile Cellular Automata with Manna Rule on the Chung-Lu Graph: Application to X Social Network
Dmitriev A., Kornilov V., Batienkov R., Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering 2026 Vol. 886 P. 249–255
Numerous studies have provided compelling evidence that the probability distribution of avalanche sizes follows a power law, and that 1/f noise is present in the stochastic dynamics of landslides. We present a theoretical explanation of these phenomena within the framework of self-organized criticality theory, proposing a discrete-time model in the form of a sandpile cellular ...

When universal machine learning models fail in capacitance prediction for carbon-based supercapacitors: Leakage-aware validation and electrolyte screening
Makarov D. M., Kalikin N., Fashchevsky K. A. et al., Electrochimica Acta 2026 Vol. 579 Article 150159
Machine learning (ML) has become a powerful tool for accelerating the development of carbon-based supercapacitors; however, most published models assume that a single predictive framework can describe both conventional porous carbons and hybrid carbon electrodes. Here, we test this assumption using a comprehensive benchmark dataset and an extended literature-curated dataset enriched with synthesis- and electrolyte-related descriptors. Three ML algorithms ...

Groshev Maksim, Rybakov Petr, Teterin N. et al., Sensors 2026 Article 6171
Manual assessment of soybean yield components, such as pod number, is laborious, time-consuming, and subjective. Existing computer-vision approaches based on object detection or instance segmentation perform poorly on close-range RGB imagery of soybean canopies due to severe occlusions, ambiguous plant boundaries, and the high cost of bounding-box annotation. To address these challenges, we propose a ...
