‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

Scientists Train Neural Network to Generate Process Plans from 3D Models
Researchers at the HSE FCS AI and Digital Science Institute have developed CAD2TechSpec, a framework that converts 3D models of mechanical parts into machining process plans—step-by-step instructions for machine tools. The solution aims to reduce the time required for the design and preparation of technical process documentation in mechanical engineering, aircraft manufacturing, and other high-tech industries. The study findings have been published in PeerJ Computer Science.

Ожившая Мадонна в европейской литературной легенде второй половины XIX в.

С. 125–141.
Nikitina N. A., Tulyakova N. A.

The sculpture image in a work of fiction is nowadays popular with researchers, who study it from the perspective of intersemiotics, intermediality and mythopoetics. The abundance of material does give opportunity both for theorization and practical analysis of certain texts, authors' styles and aesthetic trends. An animated statue is one of the most frequent episodes in 19th century literature, with Its attention to sculpture. Although the image was primarily associated with the Antiquity, it was also found in Christian tradition. One of its variants is that of Madonna coming alive. It is often found in the genre of literary legend, which deals with traditional plots and imitates old narratives. Thus, Maria's statue comes alive in legends written by G. A. Becquer (1861), G. Keller (1872) and A. France (1892). Nevertheless, the structural function and meaning of the episode vary. The episode serves as a key plot element in all the legends, but the interpretation of the image is based on different, if not opposite mythologemes. This paper aims at comparing and contrasting the image of animated Madonna statue in the texts written by different authors of the same cultural epoch.

Таким образом фейербаховская идея об истоках культа Девы Марии, ...
