Европейские войны Российской империи: сборник статей
In 2023-2024, the European University in St Petersburg hosted the ‘152 mm’ seminar, where leading historians presented papers and debated the topic of military confrontations between the Russian Empire and European powers from the official proclamation of the Russian Empire to its collapse as a result of the First World War and the Revolution. The articles included in the collection examine such conflicts as the Great Northern War, the Seven Years' War, the Crimean War, and the Europe's role in the confrontation between the Russian and Ottoman Empires and in the Caucasus War. The collection also includes articles on the history of European congresses, the role of the Polish emigration in shaping the image of Russia in the leading countries of Europe in the 19th century, and articles on the attitude to different types of wars of Russian Westernizers and Slavophiles. The collection is addressed to a wide range of readers who inevitably turn to history in their reflections on the contemporary conflict between Russia and the West. The articles are written according to the principle that comparisons and analogies are not formulated by the authors, but arise (if they arise) in the reader's mind.
