Neural Network Maps as a Method for Constructing Mathematical Models
Scientists from HSE University–Nizhny Novgorod and the Institute of Physics Belgrade, Serbia, are jointly exploring the application of machine learning techniques and neural networks to the study of nonlinear dynamics. Natalya Stankevich, Leading Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Topological Methods in Dynamics of the Faculty of Informatics, Mathematics, and Computer Science at HSE University–Nizhny Novgorod, spoke to the HSE News Service about this international project.

‘In the Age of Technology, It Is Interesting to Look into the Past and Think about What We Can Take from It

HSE Scientists Develop Method to Compress Large Language Models Without Losing Quality
Researchers from the AI and Digital Science Institute at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new compression method for large language models such as GPT and LLaMA that reduces their size by 25–36% without additional training or significant loss of accuracy. This is the first approach to use mathematical transformations—specifically, rotations of model weights—to make models more amenable to compression with structured matrices. The study results have been published in ACL Findings 2025. The code is available on GitHub.

Определение последовательности реализации проектов программы повышения эффективности бизнес-процессов

The article is devoted to the problem of determining the sequence of project implementation of the program for improving business processes of an organization. The relevance of the study is because in today's conditions, the presence of perfect business processes is a condition not even for success, but for the survival of an organization. Improving business processes is a high-cost program of projects. The projects of the program cannot be started at once due to budget and labor resource limitations. The problem of determining the sequence of step-by-step implementation of the program arises. Its solution is one of the most important areas of business informatics. The paper proposes a new criterion for determining project priorities. It considers the fact that funds for projects are generated during the implementation of business processes. The criterion also considers the speed of spending the project budget and its need for the participation of key employees of the organization. The implementation of the program is divided into stages. At each stage, the problem is solved by determining a set of projects, the sum of the priorities of which is maximum, and the resource requirements do not exceed the restrictions that have been developed by this stage. The work was initiated by the urgent need of enterprises that ensure the airworthiness of civil aviation aircraft.

The article is of interest to program managers of projects of manufacturing and service companies, as well as to a wide range of researchers and postgraduate students of technical and economic specialties.
