HSE Graduates AI Project Wins at TECH & AI Awards
Daria Davydova, graduate of the HSE Graduate School of Business and Head of the AI Implementation Unit at the Artificial Intelligence Department of Alfa-Bank, received a prize at the TECH & AI Awards. The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Математическое и экспериментальное моделирование воздействия потока атомарного кислорода на полимерные материалы

The atomic oxygen (AO) of the upper atmosphere of the Earth is one of the most significant factors of space, causing damage to the surface of the spacecraft at altitudes of 200 to 800 km. Therefore, an urgent task is to study the characteristics of the impact of AA on the various materials used in space technology, including polymer materials, micro- and nanocomposites.   In this work was carried out mathematical and laboratory simulation of AK with polymeric materials and composites. Mathematical modeling of the process of erosion of the polymer material with a protective coating, and polymer composites with a filler, resistant to AK, conducted the Monte Carlo method, implemented in software GEANT3 complex. For laboratory simulation was used magnitoplazmodinamichesky oxygen plasma accelerator SINP, allowing a flow of fast neutral and ionized oxygen atoms. The irradiated samples were examined using an atomic force and electron microscopy.
