The article explores the history of an idiom ne zanimat' 'lit. not to borrow' in the context of DCxG. The source of this idiom is the negative matrix clause modal infinitive. This is why the idiom in the earliest contexts was the head of clauses, the syntax of which was identical to the clauses with modal infinitives. The the reanalysis of the idion ne zanimat' 'lit. not to borrow' started taking place, and it triggered the change of syntax of the clauses headed by this idiom. However, in the middle of the XXth century the subject of the clauses headed by ne zanimat' 'lit. not to borrow' freezes in Dative, and this case marks subjects of modal infinitive clauses. The article shows which pecularities of the semantic evolution of the idiom ne zanimat' 'lit. not to borrow' cause this effect and why is it unusual in the perspective of DCxG.
