Студенческая оценка преподавания в университетах: актуальные проблемы в контексте российского опыта
Modern universities are focused on improving the quality of education and pay great attention to the mechanisms of its evaluation. It is generally believed that one mechanism for internal quality assessment is student evaluation of teaching (SET), a survey of students about the quality of the instructor’s work and the course. The article highlights the results of the analysis of topical problems of SET, which determine the directions of scientific discussions and research of Russian scientists. The increased attention to innovative methods of education quality measurement in Russian universities, as well as the need to solve SET problems to popularize this practice in Russia make the research relevant. The aim of this is to identify and analyze the key problems of student evaluation of teaching in the Russian context. The research methodology was based on analytical and problematic approaches. The work presents the results of regulatory framework analysis of SET’s implementation in the Russian education system. The main problems of SET are outlined: validity, liability to biases, efficiency, and selection of criteria. The paper considers the content and features of SET implementation in Russian universities. The findings show differences in the opinions of researchers regarding the SET objectivity and effectiveness. In conclusion, it is noted that SET is a mechanism for obtaining meaningful/informative feedback from the “lower levels” of the educational community and increases the manageability of basic processes on the part of the university administration. It also reflects not so much the quality of education in an educational organization as the perception of quality by consumers of educational services; expresses student satisfaction with the educational process (which depends on their expectations, learning motives, degree levels, etc.), etc.
