Immunity to Chaos: How Personal Resources Help Us Cope with the Challenges of a Turbulent World
International conflicts, crises and digital overload—the modern world puts our minds to the test every day. Traditional psychology often focuses on the consequences: anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic disorders. But what if we looked at the problem differently—through the lens of the resources that prevent us from breaking down? Psychological immunity is precisely this set of resources. Alena Zolotareva and her group, Psychological Immunity as a Resource for Positive Functioning, are developing an integrative model of this phenomenon, adapting diagnostic tools and preparing for large-scale empirical research. Why do psychologists need to collaborate with medical professionals, and how could their research transform preventive care in clinics and corporations?

How to Assess Students Knowledge in the Age of AI
A researcher at HSE University has proposed a flowchart to help lecturers decide how to assess students who use artificial intelligence. It shows where the use of AI should be restricted and where it can be incorporated into the learning process. The article has been published in IT Professional.

‘Balkan Hospitality Opens Doors: Studying Dialects on the Verge of Extinction
You cannot study spoken dialects from books. Instead, you need to go to a village, seek out its elders, and earn the trust of local residents before you can record hours of spontaneous stories. This is how Natalia Muravleva, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, conducts her research. Her internship in Serbia continued her long-standing study of dialects spoken by Macedonian settlers. In this interview, she discusses how diaspora cultural centres help researchers reach informants, why native speakers need to be interviewed only in their own language (otherwise, as she puts it, they may 'break'), and how a single field season helped her finalise her monograph. She also shares warm memories of autumn in Belgrade and of colleagues with whom grammar can be discussed in three languages at once.

Enhanced thermoelectric properties in phosphorene nanorings
Borojeni F. M., Sisakht E. T., Fazileh F. et al., Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2023 Vol. 108 No. 3 Article 035425
Using the tight-binding approach, we calculate the thermoelectric properties of phosphorene nanorings in the absence and presence of a perpendicular magnetic field, and we investigate the effect of symmetrically and asymmetrically positioned leads. Our findings indicate that the symmetry/asymmetry of our designed nanostructures, the geometrical characteristics of the ring, and the magnetic flux are three ...

The current paper demonstrates theoretical analysis of two types of spectral curves for several configurations of system of two-level light emitters, considering the influence of local field and close environment inside a transparent medium. Probe field absorption spectra and resonant fluorescence spectra are calculated under excitation of a strong monochromatic cw laser. The sensitivity of absorption and emission optical ...

Toward probing of the local electron–phonon interaction in small-molecule organic semiconductors with Raman spectroscopy
Nuraliev M., Parashchuk O., Tukachev N. et al., Journal of Chemical Physics 2020 Vol. 153 Article 174303
Electron–phonon interaction strongly affects and often limits charge transport in organic semiconductors (OSs). However, approaches to its experimental probing are still in their infancy. In this study, we probe the local electron–phonon interaction (quantified by the charge-transfer reorganization energy) in small-molecule OSs by means of Raman spectroscopy. Applying density functional theory calculations to four series ...

Phonon anomaly in Sm2BaNiO5
Klimin S. A., Popova E., Popova M. N., Journal of Physics: Conference Series 2019 Vol. 1389 No. 1 P. 012039
We present low-temperature far-infrared study of Sm2BaNiO5. The lowest-frequency phonon of Sm2BaNiO5 generated by the motion of the Sm3+ ion demonstrates anomalous behaviour at temperatures lower than the Néel temperature, T<TN=55 K. This phonon hardens at the magnetic ordering although its frequency shift does not follow the magnetic order parameter. The observed phenomenon is responsible for ...

Electron-phonon interaction, phonon and electronic structures of layered electride Ca2N
Mavrin B. N., Perminova M. E., Yu.E. Lozovik, JETP Letters 2019 Vol. 109 No. 9 P. 627–628
The phonon and electronic properties, the Eliashberg function and the temperature dependence of resistance of electride Ca2N are investigated by the DFT-LDA (density functional theory in local density approximation) plane-wave method. The phonon dispersion, the partial phonon density of states and the atomic eigenvectors of zero-center phonons are studied. The electronic band dispersion and partial ...

Photothermoelectric Response in Asymmetric Carbon Nanotube Devices Exposed to Sub-THz Radiation
Fedorov G., Kardakova A., Gayduchenko I. et al., Applied Physics Letters 2013 Vol. 103 P. 181121-1–181121-5
We report on the voltage response of carbon nanotube devices to sub-terahertz (THz) radiation. The devices contain carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which are over their length partially suspended and partially Van der Waals bonded to a SiO2 substrate, causing a difference in thermal contact. We observe a DC voltage upon exposure to 140GHz radiation. Based on ...

A numerical study of the thermodynamic properties of a superconducting quantum cylinder in a longitudinal magnetic field is carried out. Closed-form expressions for the critical temperature, the free energy, the heat capacity jump, and the magnetization difference between the superconducting and normal phases as functions of the nanotube parameters are obtained in limit cases. ...

Sezonov Y. I., Перепелкина Ю.
