The 'Second Shift' Is Not Why Women Avoid News
Women are more likely than men to avoid political and economic news, but the reasons for this behaviour are linked less to structural inequality or family-related stress than to personal attitudes and the emotional perception of news content. This conclusion was reached by HSE researchers after analysing data from a large-scale survey of more than 10,000 residents across 61 regions of Russia. The study findings have been published in Woman in Russian Society.

Wien: The Austrian Academy of Sciences Press, 2021.
t is by now widely acknowledged that between late antiquity and the first centuries of Islam, Syriac-speaking Christian communities were more than just scattered minority communities with little impact in geographical areas strongly shaped by the Iranian element. “Iranianate and Syriac Christianity” bridges across different specialized disciplines, first and foremost Iranian Studies and Syriac Studies ...

In this chapter, I discuss an epigraphic monument from early fifth-century Constantinople – a porphyry obelisk set up at a strategic point in the cityscape with a series of Greek versified inscriptions. The idea of royal charism sometimes took quite paradoxic forms on the Christian East. It was due to the fact that the Christian East was constructed of several cultural and religious clusters, and each of them developed its idea. Syriac world had an ideal model of the true king, and that was Alexander. His image ...
