Традиционные реалии в образах и текстах (на материале культуры народа тхай Вьетнама)
The article discusses the research results of the traditional cultural realities of the Thai ethnic group residing in Vietnam, which are reflected both in folklore and mythological texts, and in the ornamental system of hand weaving, the most typical traditional Thai craft associated with ritual practice.
The research allowed us to identify the majority of ornamental motifs, determine their content, reveal their symbolism and magical meaning, and most important, to establish the relationship between the structure and semantics of ornaments and archaic texts. The article highlights our finding of the coexistence of two channels (visual and verbal) of accumulation, storage and transmission of cultural and historical information, as if duplicating each other within the framework of material and spiritual culture.
Such analysis contributes to a deeper understanding of traditional realities. The comparison of traditional cultural realities in life of different ethnic groups of Vietnam and Southeast Asia will help to expose worldview universals that can be traced in texts and images.
