Support for the Regime and Right-Wing Reform Plans, Late 1916 - Early 1917
P. 43–50.
The First World War intensified the negative attitude of a number of representatives of the Russian Right to the dualistic political system consolidated by the Fundamental Laws of 1906. Russian status‐quo became an object of the hard critique not from the Left only, but from the Right, as well. The extreme Right wingers tried to use the War as a pretext for eliminating the elements of political democracy from Russian political institutions and practices. The growing of such tendency weakened the support of Nicholas II and his Government from the Right and contributed to the fall of the monarchy in March 1917.
