Blockchain in Charity: Platform for Tracking Donations
The paper explores the possibilities of using blockchain technology in charity. Problems in this area require implementation of new storage tools and the transfer of information between donors, foundations, donation recipients and other charitable actors to ensure data security, the integrity of funds, and the control of donations. Using the blockchain will allow for an increase in the confidence of potential donors in charitable organizations through guaranteed data security, the ability to track the movement of funds and transactions. In this article, the authors analyze needs, review existing charity platforms on the basis of blockchain in Russia and in the world. They offer an example of the implementation of a platform for placing and tracking donations of funds for charitable purposes using distributed registry technologies. While researching, the authors cooperated with local Funds and NPOs to validate the solution, get a better understanding of the ecosystem needs and share this experience in the paper.
