The article addresses the economic complex of Saint Petersburg. It evaluates the current state of the economic affairs in Russian Federation in connection with support programmes, measures and instruments, developed to counter the economic growth slowdown. In particular, it analyzes anti-crisis programme mechanisms in Saint Petersburg and other regions of North-West Federal District. The article suggests the directions for further development of these regions, based on the draft of Spatial development strategy of Russian Federation until 2025, which is aimed at reducing the gap between the levels of socio-economic development of the regions. The article discusses the outcomes of the implementation of Saint Petersburg General development plan and the future of Saint Petersburg aglomeration in connnection with strategic planning acts.
