Роль вопросно-ответного единства в формировании межкультурной коммуникативной компетенции (на материале англо-американской прессы)
The role of question-and-return unity in developing cross-cultural communicative competence (based on English-American mass media)
The paper analyses different types of dialogue unities in dialogue discourse aiming at developing skills of supporting conversation in FL classes at the university. The following types of dialogue unities are subject to linguistic analysis: question-and-return unities, incentive-response, narration-response. Special attention is given to identification of different structural and semantic patterns of information request, types of information request, as well as analyzing means of reconciling the source and the response replicas in the dialogue. The research has shown that 65% of students under analysis failed to perform the given task - to clearly and consistently present well thought out and logically connected questions. Consequently, it is important to develop the group of communicative skills providing creation of utterances of a particular genre. It includes developing an ability of formulating proper questions, ensuring the fulfillment of an intention; asking questions in a necessary logical order; finding certain subthemes of the text and establishing their hierarchy. All the above- mentioned skills make an important part of teaching communicative strategy and dialogue tactics at the university.
