The banking literature points out that, borrowers can discipline banks, because they are willing to pay a higher interest rate to highquality banks. Borrower continuously need credit, which is better to require in highquality banks, with higher capital/actives ratios, because these banks are solvents and exert adequately corporate governance. With a discriminant analysis, we found evidence in favor of this hypothesis in the Russian banking system.
The aim of the research is to examine factors that have greater influence on the activity of the Russian insurance market. Focus on will be given financial indicators of insurance market (premiums and payouts). There is information regarding the deals on mergers and new financial instruments. Data for the study was taken primarily from interviews with managers of insurance companies, operating on the insurance market in Russia and the notes of financial analysts with the insurance of the Internet-portal «Insurance today».
