‘Science Is Universal-It Knows No Borders
Fuad Aleskerov, Tenured Professor and Director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis at HSE University, together with his colleagues, has developed methods of network analysis in bibliometrics that have made it possible to identify patterns in the appearance and citation of publications in academic journals, as well as their influence on each other. When one or a number of studies are frequently cited by a wide range of journals, this is an indicator that the research is of high quality. By contrast, extensive cross-citation within a limited group of journals increases the likelihood of identifying a network of predatory publications.

Fedosov N., Medvedeva D., Shevtsov O. et al., Journal of Neural Engineering 2025 No. 22 Article 046031
Objective. Recent advances in biomagnetic sensing have led to the development of compact, wearable devices capable of detecting weak magnetic fields generated by biological activity. Optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs) have shown significant promise in functional neuroimaging. Brain rhythms play a crucial role in diagnostics, cognitive research, and neurointerfaces. Here we demonstrate that a small number of ...

Rapid semantic processing: an MEG study of narrative text reading
Neklyudova A., Gurgen Soghoyan, Olga Martynova et al., Language, Cognition and Neuroscience 2025 Vol. 40 No. 7 P. 889–897
Research has shown that semantic analysis occurs at early stages of word processing (less than 200 ms). While traditional studies have focused on isolated words/sentences, our research explores rapid semantic processing during reading stories when texts were presented word by word (each word lasting 150 ms), enhancing rapid semantic processing. We sorted words by quartiles according to ...

Regionally specific cortical lateralization of abstract and concrete verb processing: Magnetic mismatch negativity study
Ulanov M., Kopytin G., Bermúdez-Margaretto B. et al., Neuropsychologia 2024 Vol. 195 Article 108800
The neural underpinnings of processing concrete and abstract semantics remain poorly understood. Previous fMRI studies have shown that multimodal and amodal neural networks respond differentially to different semantic types; importantly, abstract semantics activates more left-lateralized networks, as opposed to more bilateral activity for concrete words. Due to the lack of temporal resolution, these fMRI results do not allow ...
