Два исследования о западе и востоке Улуса Джучи
The article is review of two new publications by recognized specialists in the history of the Golden Horde and its descendants. The first one is written by Ukrainian historian Boris V. Cherkas and devoted to the history of the “western wing” of the Golden Horde and its policy in the lands of Medieval South-West Rus. Despite the fact that it was pub lished as popular scientific book it is fundamental historical research which deserves the attention of specialists on the Jochid history. Second book is written by famous Russian scientist, specialist on Turkic and Eastern source studies. Tursun I. Sultanov. It is about the history of the “eastern wing” of the Golden Horde and its descendant – Kazakh Khanate. The author presents complicated and contradictory process of forming the Kazakh people during the ages with taking into account the newest researches and expressing of own position on the series of the disputable questions. The goal of the review is a general survey of the content of the books, their comparison with other studies in the field of reviewed books, the strengths of the works are marked as well as several aspects, which look like not enough studied of contradictory, are discussed.
