The State Archive of the Kirov region keeps the documents related to the history of the Viatka-American relations. Among the most interesting subjects: the activities of Xenofont Anfilatov, the participation of Viatka in the World Fair in Chicago in 1893, the aid of the U. S. Embassy to German and Austro-Hungarian prisoners of war during the First World War.
The first in historiography research of the life and writings of an outstanding Russian educator, a close friend of Vladimir Lenin's father Ilya Ulyanov Alexander Alexeevich Krasev (1844-1921). It extends and corrects the conventional image of Krasev as presented in available literature.
The 1 part of this volume includes different works reflecting the variety of fields in which Russian scholars do their research on America.In the 2 part of this collection of works professors teaching courses in "American Studies" in different universities of Russia and the CIS share their experience.The 3 part includes articles discussing the origins and development of the social thought in the United States. The 4 part presents collection of works devoted to different linguistic aspects of studying and teaching the American culture in our country. The 5 part is devoted to studying historical, social and political aspects of this phenomenon.
This documentary edited collection is based upon the field research of the Moscow University scholars in the villages of Viatka where the Old Believers allowed to copy their manuscript heritage. It is devoted to Southern Viatka, a region populated by different denominations of the Orthodox Old Belief. It includes the historical and polemical writings, community correspondence, and the folk hermeneutics. Published together, they reconstruct the local history of the Old Believers and also add to our knowledge of the Old Believers of the Volga area, Udmurtia, and other Russian regions.
